This collection consists of portraits and views collected by Henry Munroe Rogers and Clara Kathleen Rogers. It primarily contains photographs, but also includes significant numbers of prints, and some original drawings and watercolors. The photographs include cabinet photographs, cartes-de-visite, daguerreotypes, and tintypes. Daguerreotype subjects include Mary R.S. Bishop, Clara Bates Rogers, Clara Kathleen Rogers, Henry Munroe Rogers, John Hicks Rogers, Lucy Catharine Rogers, Lucy Sumner Rogers, and Catherine L. Smith. The portraits comprising Subseries A are mostly of theatrical figures, friends, and members of the extended Rogers family. Subseries B consists of portraits of theatrical figures collected by Flora MacDonald Alderman, who gave them to Henry Munroe Rogers for his collection in 1933. Subseries C includes views of places visited by the Rogers family. Subseries D consists of groups of photographs which were found either assembled in albums or grouped in packets.

Henry Munroe Rogers and Clara Kathleen Rogers amassed a substantial collection of theatrical and military memorabilia over the course of their long lives, mostly as part of their personal papers. In 1930, they donated these papers to Harvard College Library. The Rogers Memorial Room on the top floor of Widener Library was set aside to house the collection, and opened in 1935.
